Five Social Media Tips To Live By

posted by Alicia in Social Media & Online Marketing

Excited kids
I’m excited. Keren’s excited. If you’ve got your ticket we hope you’re excited too.

That’s because Keren and I are getting together again to present our popular social media workshop for small businesses. Yay!

We love helping people get over their confusion about using social media to find new clients, leads and business opportunities. Seeing their eyes pop and lightbulbs ping above their heads as they ‘get it’ is probably the most satisfying of all.

Wait. Connecting with them online and seeing them achieve results from what we’ve shared is even better!

Because we want you to achieve the same success we’ve had (and more!).

But there’s SO much information around. How do you know what is right for you, what to focus on and what not to bother with?

The thing is, we are small businesses too so we understand the time pressures and budget constraints. That’s why we share our own strategies that have helped us grow our business using social media as well as the ones we know don’t work.

Here Are Five Social Media Appetisers To Start You Off

  • You don’t need to be everywhere. Be brilliant and get results on one network first before moving on to another
  • Don’t panic about the Next Big Thing. It might not be here tomorrow. You’ll know when it’s right because your clients and customers will be talking about it
  • Don’t use social media as an alternative to face to face networking. They both have an important part to play. Meet your online connections in real life and nurture real life connections online.
  • If you are on social media all day then you’re doing something wrong. You’ve got a business to run! The secret is to look like you’re using it all day and be seen there consistently.
  • Social media is not about technology. It’s just another tool for communicating like email, phone or a letter! Sometimes a phone call is much better than a Twitter update

So if that’s made you hungry for the main course (sorry), hop on over to the events page for all the juicy details and to book your place.

Or, if you know all this stuff already, please share with your friends who might need some social media help.

(Oh, and by the way – for dessert we serve our famous homemade cupcakes! Tempted?)

You’re right about the next big thing – it’s amazing to think about how much there is to do to be in the right space to reach the right people … and then be overwhelmed when something new pops up (as it does frequently ;)) I remind myself often to be OK with what I’m doing because it is what I need to do right now. To appease the future me, I keep notes on what I think would be good and evaluate those things all at once when I’m working on on planning my business development.

All great tips! Thanks for sharing your appetizers!

I love your ‘common sense’ take on social media. It’s easy to do if you approach it the right way and these tips are a great start for anybody.

Have fun with your workshop – I know it will be brilliant for everyone. I am jealous of the cupcakes!
