Say ‘hello’ to quality leads
posted by Alicia in Strategy Stuff
Hey, do you want to know about a cool marketing tool that all the top bods are using to promote their stuff?
It’s called Hello Bar. A fun, highly visible, yet non annoying toolbar that sits at the top of your website and spans the width of your screen.
Inside the bar, you can include your own message with a button that clicks through to somewhere else (more on that below).
How can it be highly visible yet not annoying?
When people come to your website, they are usually visiting for a reason but they can easily be distracted by the wealth of information and eye-candy on the page.
(They don’t mind this, by the way – it’s usually a pleasant distraction for them. Especially if you’re offering them something that they are going to love).
As Hello Bar sits right at the top of the page, it doesn’t get lost among other images or text on your site, or get in the way of what your visitor is looking for.
Which means, it’s perfect for adding an important message you want all of your visitors to see.
Smart strategies to think about for your Hello Bar
One of my top tips is to remember to use a colour that stands out so it grabs attention (and make it compliment and not clash with your website).
Perhaps one of the most important things to remember is to use a solid call to action in your message starting your with a verb: Get, grab, download, watch… Remember, you want people to click on it so entice them with words.
Direct people to your most important content. Mostly, the best use of Hello Bar is to generate leads. Here are some ideas:
- Encourage opt ins for your regular email updates or newsletters
- Increase sign ups for your latest on or offline event
- Collect subscribers for your free email opt-in offer
- Drive visitors to Amazon to buy your latest book
- Send people to your latest or most popular product or service offering
Make it happen!
Hello Bar has a really quick and easy demo feature – I LOVE it! (It takes seconds – try it).
- Jump over and sign up for free here (just enter your email for starters).
- Next, choose a goal. Whether you want your Hello Bar to be aimed towards collecting emails, driving traffic or just to connect and share, Hello Bar gives you the option.
- After you choose a goal, you need to insert the URL of where you want your Hello Bar to lead to (remember, you can always change this later on!)
- Choose the text you want in your Hello Bar. Change the colours and font, too. As you type in the text that you want in the Hello Bar, it will automatically change at the top of your screen so you can see what it would look like in action. (Don’t worry, only you can see the demo – it won’t change anything on your website)
- Before going further, you will need to complete sign up for HelloBar.com – it’s free!
- You will now be led to a page for a one-time installation set-up. Choose the appropriate directions for uploading your Hello Bar.
That’s it. Follow these steps and you’ll see how easy (and fun!) Hello Bar is all while collecting quality opt-ins!
